The name ’’Sahib Sindh Sultan’’ can keep you thinking.. But then it also draws you closer to it and we finally succumbed to this temptation on July 24, 05 for lunch.

The start
of this gastronomical adventure was not very exciting. The captains at the lobby of this restaurant have yet to get used to treating ALL customers with the same courtesy and attention. They currently succumb to individuals who shout to gather attention. But then we did not let that bother us.

We moved on to the first compartment and settled down in a place for 2. The ambience is breath taking and transports you back in time. The attire of the stewards in the Raj era station attendants adds to the excitement. Oh yes not to mention the periodic clanging of the bell to indicate the train has started from one station...

Still confused - well I am not going to reveal the reason but it should suffice that be prepared for an enjoyable ’’stationary train journey’’ To know expeience it yourself :)

The cuisine is awesome! We are veggies and rate all that we savoured A+. We started by Sultan Thandai and had Tatya Tope Lah Jawab (starter). It was an absolute treat to the pallette. The main course consisted of Maa ki dal, Panner KAsthuri burji, anar kulcha and sabzi rangi pulao. Phew! Instead of the normal papad, you get garlic breadsticks accompanied with 3 different types of dips - didnt get to figure out what they are but the taste was good. Oh yes for those who love to savor alcohol with lunch / dinner - you can freak out in this place :)

But what needs to be mentioned is that one Mr. Mohammed Sheikh helped in serving us food and taking good care of all of those on whom he was attending. I got down to asking his name because he never succumbed to pressure of demanding guests and catered to the interests of veg and non - veg patrons.

The best part - this meal cost us about INR 600. very reasonable given the interesting ambience it offers.

Tips to improve - Think child safe and child friendly when creating a restaurant. And by the way patrons who wear jeans and are mild spoken also demand equal respect.

But till then - chug away on this journey....
