Hi all,
Thought I'd share with all of you an extremely unpleasant experience at Vedantam-the saree shop in Safina Plaza. We've been buying their sarees for over 5 years now because we basically like the stuff they sell. (Over the last one year I must have bought at least 10 sarees there for family and friends)
Last month my mom-in-law got a saree from there as a gift. She did not quite like it and thought it could be exchanged. Vedantam staff had assured that the saree could be exchanged if required. However, when we took the saree they refused to exchange it saying that the 'folds' were not right and they could not take a decision. We spoke to the shop owner a lady by name Sharmila Vedantam over phone and after some discussions he agreed to take a look at the saree this week and decide accordingly. She was rather rude on the phone but my mom in law decided to give it a try yesterday. She went all the way to Safina Plaza yet again with another friend from palm Meadows and they were in for a shock.
The lady not only refused to exchange the saree but lost her cool (when my MIL tried to explain to her that she should be reasonable given that we are long standing customers) completely and hurled abuses at my MIL and her friend!! We buy sarees from a lot of boutique shops in Bangalore (Ambara, Tarunyas, Vimor, Neeru Kumars, Bandhej ...to name a few) - we have never had such an unpleasant experience. I would suggest that all of you be careful while dealing with Vedantam!
