Sachin
RameshTendulkar. The nation awarded this great player with Padma Vibhushan yesterday. In fact I had my plan to write on the Golden Trio of Indian Cricket, Sachin, Ganguly & Dravid. I was keeping this topic for announcement of their retirement for last one year but they are giving excellent performance one after other. However, what other occasion is best than this to give our applaudes to this great legand?
It is the first time in the history of India a Cricket Player get this 2nd greatest civilian award the nation offers.
(I use this space to congratulate Vishwanathan Anand who also got Padma Vibhushan along with Sachin Tendulkar, Narayana Murthy, RK Pachauri, E Sreedharan, Lakshmi Narayan Mittal, Jst. A S Anand, PN Dhar, P.R.S. Oberoi, Asha Bhosle & Edmund Hillary.)
This is a special republic day for Indian sports for its achievement of 2 Padma Vibhushan, which otherwise was not considered for sports personalities. While congratulating all the award winners, let me limit my article on Sachin Tendulkar.
Probably you will be having more information on Sachin Tendulkar than I do, but let me share my pride on this sportsman quickly and leave the space for you.
Arguably, he is the most famous living Indian, inside and outside the country. At 34, the little master who conquered the world with his right hand batting, tested many batsmen with his accurate bowling as well.
With 145 Test matches, 235 Innings, (25 Not outs), 11,616 runs with an average of 55.31(plus) runs is not a small feet to achieve. His excellence and importance will be more evident with his ODI record of 407 matches, 397 Innings, (37 not outs), 15,962 runs, on an average of 44.33. Sooner he will hit the 16000 run and what a number it is!!! 45 Test wickets and 154 one day wickets surely tells his bowling influence. (These are all as per records on the day of preparation of this review. For the latest information, check the link (http://content-www.cricinfo.com/india/content/current/player/35320.html) It is ought to change.
He joined the ground when he was a boy and he is still very much a youngster. I remember, the days where each student of the almost any class wants to be like Sachin Tendulkar. He was a role model for many, though their wishes ended there. I remember the days the Indian Innings wind up easily once Sachin is out. One innings, sachin got out when the success was almost there for short of few 10 or 20 runs and 5 wickets remaining and we lost all 5 wickets and lost the game. The situation changed surely by now. However, I mentioned it here only to say that this great talent holds the national pride high in many and many matches not permitting great bowlers and their killing speeds to make inroads to Indian territories.
Because of his consistency and continued service for long years he well deservingly hold quite a number of golden records which any other cricketer may wish for. He is known as the
PRINCE OF RECORDS as well. (I can get it from the links, but even flies know about Sachins records) With a 5.5 height, no wonder he was called as the little master, but in will power and determination he was taller than Everest. His belief in himself, his talent and the skill, patience to practice and think for the team all made him great.
I remember he states some time earlier that why he wanted to open an innings. His view was that when he is opening the innings, he can easily dominate the bowlers where batting down the order may put the bowlers on top because of the early gains. This only shows
that he is determined and confident to dominate. He is right in that too. Tendulkar hate failing. This non-compromising attitude made him difficult for other bowlers. When Sachin is determined, he will not permit any bowler to block his way. Such is the concentration and determination he holds! I am sure Sachin was aware of this award before the test and see how he thanked the country!
It is true that he struggled a bit and was not that successful as a captain. He surely will not be remembered as the best captain of India, but he will be remembered more than any captain for sure. That is the power he created with his batting magic.
I am not the right person to write on this great legend, however giving away my bit of thoughts…
The emotion Tendulkar leaves with me is the QUEST TO CONQUER…and to believe in myself. While it is good to appreciate his efforts and follow his fans I wish to get his patience to work hard to develop the SKILLS OF SUCCESS and CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT of it.
Let me wish SACHIN TENDULKAR all the best, in his future endures while join the crowd to applaud on the achievement.
