Background:
This movie is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali whose earlier work involves khamoshi, Hum Dil de chuke Sanam, Black and Devdas. HDDCS was a commercial entertainment and Devdas was a splendid piece of cinema. It was undoubtedly one of the most aesthetic, romantic and intense movies of all time.
Now, coming back to Saawariya, this movie stars newbie star kids Ranbir and Sonam. This movie is widely being compared with OSO (Om Shanti Om). It’s downright unfair for this movie to be compared to the piece of crap called OSO. Both are very different movies and the only similarity between them was their release date.
Expectations from Saawariya were very high and SLB does deliver a product, which is very beautiful, very romantic and very different.
This movie is inspired from the Russian short story “White Nights”, by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
The story is about a flamboyant young guy Ranbir Raj (Ranbir) trying to woo his ladylove Sakina (Sonam), who is eternally waiting for her love of life Imaan (Salman Khan).


Verdict:
Watch this movie only if you are fond of romantic cinema, aesthetic and authentic movies. This one is not for masses.
Strictly avoidable for those who like masaala movies with item numbers. Those who would look for reality and logic will surely be disappointed.
Enjoy it as a piece of romantic fiction.
