SOTC collects a security fee while booking saying that in case of family emergencies and if you have to cancel the trip before 30 days of the tour start you get full refund. It is a big fraud.
We booked for the Scandinavian tour this year starting on 13 June 2016. We paid the advance of 55k each including this guarantee fee on 29th February. Unfortunately, my only brother developped a kidney problem and had to be hospitalised. Considering his age and other factors, the doctors treated him as terminal case; and therefore we were not able to go on the tour.
This aged brother is only my responsibilty since he had no issues. I had to cancel this trip and I had asked SOTC to cancel our booking on 3rd May 2016 by providing all the details about the family emergency including hospital documents. When we asked for the refund, SOTC was not willing to pay. They were not ready to follow their own rules printed and published.
After a lot of correspondence, (of course we wrote to MD also without any effect) and bickering, they said they will pay 25k each( swallowing 30k) and that too will be adjusted against our future booking. I had to inform them that we may not go on a tour again with SOTC and after dilly-dallying, they paid the sum 25 k each only. As per their own brochure, they should have paid 40k each the minimum.Our advice to touring public: Do not travel with SOTC. They are heartless cheats.
