If you have a Citi Bank Card, then please do not read this review. You actually need not.
Well, let me clear. I have several credit cards. Have SBI credit card as well. In fact I never wanted SBI credit card but my friend SBI Vikramaditya Road Branch at Lucknow's Chief Manager Mr. Paul insisted that I should have one.
He said, 'Its free for you. Nothing will be charged. You will get cash back as well. So I said okay.
And they gave me card after a fortnight of completing all the formalities. The troubles started one month after. They sent me a bill of almost seven hundred rupees with some penalty for NOT paying amount in time for a card only a month old. I rushed to my bank. My friend Mr. Paul was genuinely shaken. How can they do it? And he picked up the phone, dialed credit card division. Argued with the man in charge there and then looking assured, he asked me to go back and pay nothing as the matter was closed. He insisted,' You do not have to pay.'
After another couple of days the second shot came. An outstanding demand note for Rs. 1100. The thing that irritated me most was the tag line typed in bold letters atop the demand note all credit card operations stopped.
Again the same scene was repeated there at SBI Office with my friend Mr. Paul banging the phone here and there. After half an hour very shyly he requested me, to leave the demand note there with him and go back. He was shaken by his own system. I was disturbed because I was declared a defaulter.
After another 15 days, a fresh demand note arrived at my residence in which my payments were waived. The payments, which I never owed.
Since then I was not using this card but recently when I tried to book two AirDeccan tickets for my brother in law, I tried to use this card, because Air Deccan site claimed to give me some cash back on amount spent on the purchase of AirDeccan tickets. When I completed the booking formalities, and tried to pay-online using the card, the message displayed was that you cannot use this card due to some technical reasons.
I picked up my CitiBank card and within a minute I finished the transaction.
All I recommend is this that if you are thinking of having a credit card, then please select any reliable NON SBI card. I may summarize the other reasons:
1- you will hardly find a SBI ATM without queue or crowd.
2-Most of the time SBI ATM does not function at all.
3- ATM frauds are also not unusual with SBI (Recently a very senior IAS Officer of UP IAS cadre Mr. Rohit Nandan reported 30K ATM fraud. Some one took the money from his ATM account without using his card. He held a press conference and told it to media. All big newspapers including Hindustan Times/Times of India carried this story.)
4-They will block your card without giving you any time.
5- Nobody listens you at SBI.
6- Nobody trusts you at SBI.
7- SBI does not need you! IT IS A VERY VERY BIGG BANK, Understand!!
Do I have any reason to recommend anybody to take SBI card?
