I’ve eaten there all alone; a couple of times with my dinner dates, with my friends and family, and once even with my bosses.

The

place is just right for enjoying food and having the dinner table conversations.

It has a graceful ambience catering to specialties from up north - Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Awadh situated at 100ft Rd, Indira Nagar, Bangalore.

They have 6-7 variants of Roomali Roti alone along with the other entire Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian food list.

The restaurant is on the third floor so I did get a view of the running 100ft road when I sat near the parapet. Believe me it is nice to look at that traffic when you know that, for some time, you are not a part of it.

So now I can safely say that the view from the restaurant is also good and hence the name – Roomali With A View. :-)

The tables, carved chairs, attractive antiques and showpieces add not only to the theme of the place but also to the satisfaction of the guests. The niches on the walls contain puppets and figurines of Rajasthani people with musical instruments that end up making most of the guest clicking photos around them.

An innovative offering that I noticed said “Ask for a shawl if you are feeling cold” was put on the pillars around the seating area. Although, I never asked nor did I see anyone else asking for that but it was a nice gesture to show that they are aware that sitting in open on third floor might become a little cold for the guest in the late evenings.

Another nice gesture I would like to mention is an on-the-house welcome drink and it is bottomless. Though, Hard Drinks are served with a price tag of around Rs.80-100 for 30ml. of a premium whisky but still please don’t get any ideas; No restaurant in Bangalore will dare to offer any bottomless alcoholic drink “On-The-House”. It is nice refreshing “Jaljeera” in a ceramic tumbler that looks like a “Kullarr”.

The menu was very nicely designed with lots of writings about Rajasthan’s and Kashmir’s food history. The dishes are clearly explained as to what they contain and what kinds of gravies are used to make them to ensure the guests can have a better choice. Besides all the Roomalies they have the other Indian breads also like naans, kulchas, rotis, etc.

I, being a vegetarian who eats a lot of Chicken also, could never stop my eyes at any of the veg starters / dishes. I satisfied my taste buds with good old Kalmi Kabab as starter followed by Murg-do-pyaza along with Methi Roomali roti.

I wouldn’t call my meal The Best but quite satisfactory though.

The staff is courteous and tries to treat you respectfully. The service is pretty fast. Table cloth, plates and glasses are clean.

Per person cost for food will be Rs.250-300.

Overall a good experience.
