With Roja one thing that strikes me in particular (but in a way with almost all Bollywood movies) is that -unlike in Hollywood- the bad ones are never completely bad. In Roja, even the main terrorist, who does not refrain from hitting his own sister quite hard, let alone killing people, has some soft spot in the end and lets his captive go.

What I found rather funny was the way Roja acts in the temple in Kashmir, the way she addresses the ''God of Kashmir'' and tells him to tell something to her deity at home. This is a somewhat simple but relaxed way of treating a God that is quite unthinkable with Christians (I'm none, but I've grown up in a Christian society.). What I didn't like is the way this town boy goes and gets himself a village girl. Why does he do that? So that he can be smarter than his stupid (and far younger) village wife? If so, this is a very unpleasant trait of character. And inspite of that, this woman loves him so much that she does more than she can to rescue him. I don't think him worthy of that. Does he even thank her in the end?
