January 2008, Indore. The first sunday of 2008.. Happy and good. What to do? 1/2 gallon of gas in the vehicle? Nothing near by? Lets watch a movie! I and two of my friends decided to watch ’The Golden Compass’. Now, there was a time lag of 2 hours for the next show. After deciding to get the next 2 hours wasted. Went to a Planet-M, and saw a DVD.. RGV ki Aag for Rs. 49! Wow! All plans for ’Golden Compass’ excavated our minds and the very next moment, We were at home with the great value for money deal.

As I had already read MS’s reviews on Aag, I really had no expectations, And after watching it. It was proved I wasn’t wrong.

PS: Please note the underlying sarcasm in the extra lavish lines]

Story:[Well, Missing... though I’ll try to be detailed as possible]

The space is set in a place called Kaligunj, somewhere near Mumbai. The place is ruled and reigned by a absolutely stunning don ’Babban [Amitabh Bachchan]’ who has become successful in terrifying the people living there with his single barrelled gun and a year old ’no bath’ tacky look. The only people alive are Narsimha [?] and Durga [Sushmita Sen] (PS: Sushmita makes her debut once again in her 36th movie, and still she does not manage to show her acting skills, As per her reaction on being critisized.).Heero [Devgan] and Raj [Prashant] have just come to Mumbai to fulfill their dreams. [What dreams?! Not mentioned in the movie, I considered them as drinking and singing :D ]

Narsimha finds and convinces the duo to avenge his familes death and the harm Babban has put upon the villagers in last 10 years. Intersting?! Well..err..no :(. There are parallel love stories running which absolutely GO! with the script! Devgan and Nisha, Prashant and Sushmita. The love stories should have been opposite like Devgan and Sush, Nisha and Prashant. The age factor wouldn’t have fallen upon both of them. But, god help RGV, he always wants to craft ’Nishabd’ everytime he makes a film.

Direction:
Ramu scores a distinction + 10/10 in irritating and disgusting the viewer at the wit’s end. Awful is a not a word to define his direction. Suggest me on this. :P.  None of the scenes manage to get on to you, after each scene you think ’? What?’. Music is noteworthy! Absolutely reckless and disgusting.
#Cinemetography: Well, this is one of the few Indian films which has been shot in hand/body driven cameras. Since, this is a new concept, It was not going to be accepted by the regular Indian audience where people watch still screens, hi-res close ups..etc. Aag did not have any such thing, Hence it fails in the techical dept. too.
Execution is once again a plus, you don’t need to watch the movie from the begining.. After 10 mins from the begining, No scene is inter connected. [So, If it comes on your local channel, Do ’watch’ it?]

Performances:
Rubbish. Except for Ajay Devgan in a few scenes.. Performances are absoulte waste. No actor/character suits on his role.

Positives:
The movie was a 136 mins watch. The DVD comes for Rs. 49! Plus you get to watch a new movie’s  trailer..Entitled ’GO’..

PS: The movie had released in Nov. 07.. And it really did a ’GO’ at the Box Office!

Negatives:
May be the movie is a 136 mins watch, It still seems legnthy. The DVD cover is made from recycled paper, which was used in making RGV ki AAG’s posters. And it being a Rs. 49 deal, is still not a value for money. :(

The movie has a and old tacky, shady, worn out, useless, hopeless look which takes your hell lotta enthusiasm out, if you have any. Performances are crap. Music is borring. Characters are depressing, Camera work [?], The sets according to me are used sets which were used in making some period film. The vehicles seen in the movie are brought somewhere from Mars.

Overall^^.. Aag was a an absolute depressing piece of cinema given from bollywood. One of the worst movies of the decade. Better to miss it, but if you are a total RGV freak, still this one’s again a miss for you.

Thank You..
