Rakht is a wonderful scary suspense thriller.Why it failed at the box office beats me.This was Vijay Mallya’s first venture into financing Hindi Films but looking at the loss he suffered it probably
is his last one.
Bipasha Basu is a widower with a 5 yr old child and she is blessed with the ability to ’’see the future’’ thru her tarot cards.She earns her livelihood thru this and is unfailingly accurate.One of her freidns is her son’s school principal Sanjay Dutt who is engaged to Amrita Arora.Bipasha Foresees troublesome times for the to-be couple but doesnot tell them.
Another one of Bips friends is Neha Dhupia who is a battered wife of roudy,wife beater and abusive Dino Morea.Bips warns Neha to cut off all ties with Dino but she doesnot listen to him.
One fine day Amrita Arora is found missing and after lot of investigations,it is revelealed that her body is found in the lake owned by Dino Morea and hence Dino is arrested.Dino is furious with Bips who he calls ’’kalli billi’’ and infact the court convicts Dino as well based on all the evidence.......
but Bips ’’vision’’ says that the murderer is still on the loose and its not Dino.Who the murderer is...well I certainly will not tell you that ,but the suspense is exceptional.
The movie ends with a song by Bips and her boyfriend Abhishek.Wonderful movie.
Bips is at her best in this film,Sunil Shetty wasted,Sanjay Dutt seems to have reached male menpause-he looks so disinterested.Neha is good but Dino is great.Amrita Arora as the unscrupulous slutty girl is pathetic.The music is excellent,the scenes well shot,suspense is killing and the atmosphere in some of the scenes is so scary you could almost fall off the chair.
Even though its been almost a yr since the movie was released I still donto have the faintest idea why the film failed.Do you?
