In September 2015 I with my mother aged above 75 years boarded on New Delhi- Dibrugarh Rajdhani(Train No. 2436) to go to Varanasi. There was no any problem with the train. The Journey was almost comfortable. But there were something which worth mention here. The main meal they provided was insufficient with low quality compared to the extra money they charged. Catering staff do not pay heed to your demands, even do not provide extra bottle of water. They did not serve sweet dish/ice-cream after dinner. Even after, they insisted on for paying Inam for providing service in the train.
Train reached Varanasi on time at about 10.00 PM and halted at platform. My compartment was in the tail of the train, just before the guard’s compartment. To my utter surprise, this compartment did not touch the platform. On inquiring from the people outside train, they said that this platform is short, so this compartment will not come on the platform. There was no railway staff to help or inform. This was great ordeal for me. Though I could manage to jump out of the train in the pit in the railway track, my elderly mother had to suffer a lot. Anyway, in a bid to get out of train she got hurt. We face a lot of problem and danger to come again on platform. It is the sheer apathy of Indian Railway to the passengers of such a premium train. There was no way out but to suffer. Even after so much development, it the behavior of the railway officer, sinking the railway.
