For all those readers who shy away from sidney sheldon cause they think he's too sleazy well this is one book that would change anyone's mind! rage of angels is one book that one could go back to reading again and again.
It's not your typical courtroom ballad that john grisham lays down. This is about the glitz and the glamour, the agonies and ecstasies that a woman (jennifer parker) faces while she practices her profession and more importantly about her relationship with michael moretti, the sinfully suave and handsome would mafia don that brings jennifer her greatest joys and most deadening pains.
Daughter of a small town lawyer jennifer grew up knowing one day that she would surely follow suit to her father and take to law. But her dreams were almost shattered when through her foolish eagerness to impress her superior and the then New York d.a. Robert de silva she looses an open and shut case for him.
The case is against michael moretti.
Faced with an impending disbarment she finds a saviour in adam warner and in a fairy tale fashion falls in love knowing that he is a married man. Then as always there are complications and for an illustrious career in politics adam leaves jenny for his pregnant wife mary beth little knowing that jenny was pregnant herself!
In the meanwhile jenny was a career girl after all and she didn't call it quits. With the new found friend ken bailey she sets about practising criminal law the way she had always dreamed of with passion and dedication..(unfortunately...without the pay check of course!). But after a stunning case win for a convict against the feared de silva she finally finds a footing in the unkind city.
With fame also came the attention... attention she did not want.... that of the one man who had almost ruined her... nipped her career at the bud....... michael moretti.
I would leave the story line till this... cause a review is not about telling you the story and asking you to read the book but just to give you enough reasons to do so....
You should definitely read this book if you like court cases but not not the nitty gritty part of it. it is also for those who want to understand a modern woman... a woman who is ambitious is not necessarily a bitch ... she is as vulnerable and sometimes unreasonably insecure. jennifer's character shows that love makes you blind, and love also can make you stop yourself from getting love (if you read the book you will know what I mean!).
About michael moretti... if you are a guy you would hate him in public but want to be like him in secret(whether you acknowledge that or not) and if you are a girl who doesn't mind darkness and power in your guy you'll loose your heart to him.
Adam Warner is so despicable and spineless that he is only comparable to ashley wilkes of gone with the wind and his wife mary beth is the real shrewd woman who knows exactly what she wants and how to go about getting it.
Read it and you'll love the book or hate it.....but if you love it you'll read it again and again! Happy Reading
