radio city was the hottest thing happening in bangalore in the year 2001 when it was first launched.i was really happy because they were playing some really good songs.i also took to it because they balanced
out the type of songs that were being played it just wasnt hindi all the time.it was lovely.now we didnt have to wait for tapes to come out to listen to certain songs.they had everything right from hindi filmi songs to pop, rock, dance etc etc..it was amazing and i loved to tune my discman radio to 91 fm at night just before i went to sleep because my parents prefer to buy classical music on cd.
the following year and the next the station was the only thing being played in every fast food joint or restraunt, car, walkman, radio.you would heard the voice of joncee, rohit barker and the rest of the gang every where you went.the station still went strong onto 2002 and was still gaining popularity.they had music for every kind of music lover.nothing was ever to bad to listen to and the times werent absurd either where you have to sit up half the night to wait for a certain type of music to be played.
then came the day i dreaded....radio city is now just all hindi music right from the start of the day to 10 pm at night.now my radio just stays off.its not that i hate hindi music its just that you can take it to a certain limit then you just feel like listening to something else.the station has become really boring and monotonous.now that its only hindi there are hardly any variety and thus in almost every show the same songs are being repeated over and over again.
my father who would tune in frequently to this station on his way to the office and on the way home has stopped listening to it.it looks like everybodys tape decks are coming back into use now.
radio city was really nice to listen to especially when we used to go in the car.they had songs ranging from hindi to english so we didnt have to stuff the glove compartment of the car with bulky tape covers.now the same thing seems to coming back into existance.like the saying what goes around comes around.i wish the executives at radio city would get into their thick heads that there are people out there who like to listen to something else other than hindi ever moment of the day.having these songs after 10 pm is of no use at all.people are already too tired to stay up or they catching the news on television ,a good movie or watching their favourite serial.
my friends have already sent sms messages to the station requesting them to get back to what they were originally.old is gold.except for all the hindi song fans in the city i guess the rest of the population is going to stay off the station because i can see that the younger generation is more inclined to listening to rock, rap, pop and wouldnt mind hindi songs.but they do tend to avoid them.if had written a review on it before all this happened i would have given it a really high rating but i think the have forgotten what the rest of the people would like to listen to.
