Shame on Radio Mirchi.

Friday – 16th September was a big day for Indian Cricket team. They had to win final the match against England and the one thing that made this match special was that it is the final ODI for Rahul Dravid, the man who is proudly called the Wall of Indian Cricket team.

Unfortunately I had to drive, so by 8:30 I was surfing the Radio channels for scores when I heard Dravid’s name mentioned in Radio Mirchi. Being a big fan of Rahul I was happy that the channel has something to say about him on his final day but the next moment I regretted for tuning in to radio mirchi. The comments I heard the RJ Mr. Anand say about Rahul Dravid made my blood boil, literally.

On the day of his farewell match, When the world was talking about how great a Cricketer he is, someone who is always calm, and someone who the youngsters turn to for advice, someone who said his most memorable moment is India lifting 2011 world cup even though he was not part of it, I can say on and on, but on this same day this particular channel made fun about him in the worst possible way.

When Dravid came in to bat the RJ said “I am praying to God that Dravid faces 200 balls and scores at least a 50”. Next the discussion was what he will do after retirement and the answer was “he would make his living by running a petty shop near a wine shop”, because he is so calm that he can manage the drunkards. Does Radio Mirchi think this is funny? I would say it’s a crude joke to be made on a legendary player.

The media has right to criticise any player about their play but who has given it the right to pass such nasty comments on them? Don’t you have quality control for what goes live on air? If you have a mike and tag called media can you talk anything? If you cannot praise a good man on his farewell match like everybody else you could have as well said nothing than make him a laughing stock and hurt the feelings of his numerous fans like me.
