Earlier, Rabindra Bharati University had a bad name. But that is past now. The university was set up in 1962 to promote studies in art and culture. It was only in 1981 that another faculty, the faculty
of arts was opened. The university really grew in the 1990s and now it is rather respected. No wonder that it has earned a 4star ranking by the NAAC. My personal experience in the university was fabulous. The English department was always one of the best in the city. Now the other departments are also catching up. Being a home-university works as a distinct advantage to the university. Those who want to pursue a course in Arts, RBU can definitely be an option. Of late, I heard that the university had plans to open some more courses such as journalism and PG courses in some other subjects. Things are likely to shape from the next academic year. If that happens, it will really boost the university. It compares very well with other varsities. The 4-star rating states it all. The thing I dislike about it is that, research facilities are still not plenty.
