From his debut venture ‘Mounam Peseyedhey’ which was a sleeper hit, director Ameer strikes gold with this gripping murder mystery. The film opens with the blood-soaked bodies of Raam (Jeeva) and his

mother Saradha (Saranya) on the floor of their house. But when the police arrive, they realise Raam is still alive and take him into custody. His unwillingness to speak makes him the prime suspect of killing his mother. The investigating officer, Umar (Rahman) suspecting other possibilities behind the murder, begins to interrogate all those who knew about Saradha and Raam. Umar’s probing instigates fury in Raam’s neighbour and police inspector Malaichami (Murali), as his son and daughter are brought to the station for questioning. He finds out that Malaichami’s daughter Karthika (Gajala) was in love with Raam, which ended up in a dispute between the two families. The film seamlessly switches between present and past, revealing Raam’s eccentric nature and his dangerous obsessive love towards his mother. Whilst all the commotion and suspicion creeping upon those who knew Saradha, Raam finds out the real killer…

 

The film’s screenplay takes surprising twists, keeping us hooked with its fast-paced and unpredictable turning points. Jeeva as Raam comes up with a performance of his lifetime. He lives the character of an eccentric teenager with passion, delivering a memorable act. The film’s music blends with the narrative, while the cinematography handled by Ramje is breathtaking and captures the moods and scenic beauty of the hill-station with some excellent technical work. The film was screened at the Indian PanoRaama and at the Cyprus International Film Festival, where it won the Best Actor and Best Musical Score Award. With a powerful script, well etched characters, and an engaging screenplay, this thriller will keep you guessing. Above all, it’s a film about a boy’s immense love towards his mother, which sometimes become hard to differentiate who’s the mother and the child.
