Imagine being forced during check in with a valid flight ticket to purchase another ticket to be allowed to board the plane for the flight which you already have a ticket for, well that’s what Qatar airways have resulted to now to make up for the falling number of passengers in their planes they force passengers during check in to buy other tickets which they don’t need only to cancel them later and yes there is a little cancellation fee which the airline will happily pockets from you for a ticket which you were never going to use.
This was my experience when I flew on Qatar airways on the morning of 26 February 2014 from Dubai when the check in supervisor of Qatar airways refuse to let me board the plane as he couldn' t understand my visa as per him, how do you not understand a visa! This is when I was offered the magical option of buying a return ticket from my home destination to Dubai to be able to board the plane for a flight to my home even after explaining and arguing that I will not need the ticket and I will only have to cancel it later.
To put the icing on the cake the airline staff told me that my visa was not valid for my home destination as they checked with immigration which was simply not true.
Any way next time you fly Qatar airways get ready to be scammed of your hard earned money by none other than the airline itself. And no point complaining. Signed Qatar airways frequent flyer.
