For the past 4 years I've been traveling qatar airways and prior to that I traveled only emirates... So this comparison is not based one time travel. Most of you might think then why do I need to take qatar airways...
Sadly my in-laws live in Qatar and so I have to stop there every time I travel and qatar airways is the most convenient since I have to take less number of stops.
So traveling almost twice a year from JFK-COK I have acquired so many miles.. Every time I book a flight and ask for an upgrade from economy to business , its just not available.
So this time around since the dates were flexible I decided to contact the Member service center number +974 4449 6449 in Doha directly.
So the person at the center told me August 21st there is availability for an upgrade to business class on Chicago-Cochin. He also said that he can’t book tickets, but asked me to book economy tickets and call back.
I booked my ticket and called in exactly 20-30 minutes. And then the person in the center said that there is no upgrade available! How ridiculous.
I see this as racial discrimination coz I'm Indian. The first person thought I was an american who wants to travel so he gave me the dates.. the second person I spoke to had my details from the privilege card number. So he refused to give me upgrade... I know how qataris discriminate Indians. Since I grew up in middle east I know their attitude... But it is so wrong!
The sad part is if I wasn't getting an upgrade I didn't wanna travel qatar airways.. now to cancel my ticket they asked for 250$. I emailed their complaint team.. They are yet to get back to me!
Let me Also tell you prior to this every time the people in qatar airways counter in JFK gives so much attitude. where requesting a seat or any thing.... Trust me every time I flew in emirates they have been so accommodating in whatever I requested..... I am not exaggerating.. I had problem every single time...
I decided that even if I have to take extra stops with my 9 month old, I will do it.. Qatar airways is just not worth it!
