I am banking with Punjab National Bank(PNB), Sahid Nagar Branch in Bhubaneswar. I hold my salary account in this bank. However, PNB, Pokhariput branch is very near to my office and thus, I always prefer to do all my manual transactions with the bank in this branch only.
But cash deposit in this branch is quite hectic. It consumes much more time than it would take if the deposit is made in person at the cash counter. But, today I got absolutely annoyed when it took almost 30 minutes to deposit Rupees 7, 000/- and still Rupees 13, 000/- were pending. Then I spent 15 more minutes and failed to deposit the rest amount. Then I requested to the cash counter officer for the deposit and he was kind enough to do it.
My concern is about the fact that when machines are used for any purpose, it must save time, but this cash deposit machine at the above said branch takes thrice more time than it would require for cash counter deposit. Secondly, in the name of machine, the cash counters do not accept cash deposit which is also injustice to customers. Again, my notes were taken from a SBI ATM and they were absolutely new and ordered in numbers, but the machine used to return it back. Then finally, this machine has been showing same behavior since lang time and to my memory at least for last four months if not more. Then what is the benefit of it.
