Before getting this book, I don't have a knowledge of Java. This book is written in such a lucid manner that a person can master in Core Java. I wrote many programs, even I made a programming file for my whole class!
Its really a good book for initial stages of learning java. It has some good examples.It clearly explains strings, applets, classes, objects etc.You can get this book. Not only the student, anyone can refer this one who is too much interested in the java.
being a student, it was very useful for me since this was the book recommended by my university. it has the basics of java programming and I think it will be useful for beginners.If you are new to java.Go for it.
