Upon first use of the stove, I noticed an orange yellow flame at the tip of the blue flame when the knob is between high and sim, which is not supposed to be seen in LPG stoves. The next day, I called up the local dealer, informed him, and he told me to contact the company service toll-free number. I called up and a technician came after 5 days to my home. Upon seeing the colour of the flame, he told that it is the problem of the regulator. I found it very absurd and silly. I told him that the regulator and hose was changed just 3 months back. Then he changed the jet of the stove to slightly reduce the pressure and again the flame colour was orange yellow. I knew that this technician is not properly qualified and may be an apprentice. He left my home saying that there was nothing which could be done.
The next day, I called up the local dealer and complained that the stove is in fact defective. He told that he will ask another area technician to come and have a look. After 5 days, I got a call from that technician saying that I can give the stove to that shop, and when he comes to the shop, he will service it and return it. I was doubtful of that move. I told him that I will come to the shop with the stove and he can check or service the stove in my presence. He also changed the jet and the outcome was the same. I asked him to show another new stove from the shop, light it and verify the flame. The same orange yellow flame appeared in that stove also. I insisted that it is a design failure. His reply was rather funny. He told that we can cook either in high or sim flame. I asked for a refund for which he told that the gas stove is working normally and no refund can be allowed by the company. I told him that I won't advise my friends and others to purchase Prestige products. He replied that Prestige is not worried about that, and that people will simply buy the company's products because of the brand name.
I would advise the public not to buy Prestige products ( specifically gas stoves in this review) . Why I say it is design failure is that the Sabaf valves and Indian brass burners are not matched properly, and thereby such orange yellow flame will appear. Prestige is cheating customers by selling faulty and defectively designed stoves and charging a premium for their brand name. Prestige doesn't really care about the customer and the after sales experience is rude and horrible.
Additional design failures:
Insufficient gas pressure compared to foreign stoves.
More number of holes in the centre of the burner compared to the side, which results in food getting burnt in the centre of the vessel.
The sim level is not really sim compared to foreign stoves.
The distribution of the flame to the vessel is not uniform. There is interference of gas pressure from the central holes and side holes of the burner.
The pan supports are of poor quality. They have started to rust within one month of usage.
The gas-oxygen mixing is not precisely correct, which results in the orange-yellow flame. There is a sudden appearance of bright orange flame when knob is changed quickly from sim to high.
