Sometime back, we wished to sell our car and took it to Pratham as our first choice for genuine true value. Mr Murali promised to get
us a deal for Rs. 3,30,000/- for our eleven and a half month old WagonR in pristine condition. We failed to get any written confirmation from him since he and his manager assured us that we would be given the money anytime we wished to sell the car in the near future. We were considering a new Honda but thought of getting a SX4 instead since the staff seemed to be so helpful and obliging. However, a week later, we did get our car to the showroom to hand it over and book a new SX4. Muralis manager flatly refused to the offer of Rs. 3,30,000/- saying it was very high and that he never promised us anything. Murali was very elusive and played on the same lines as his manager. We were thoroughly disappointed. The same evening Murali called us and said he could get us the cash for the car. He said he had been working with this other broker who tended to the shattered hopes of Prathams customers. Though not the exact amount he would negotiate and then give us the money. I did not encourage the deal since I suspected foul play. However, he kept pressing us a lot. It seemed he would also benefit from the deal. The question here is whether Murali works for Pratham or that unscrupulous broker he represented in front of us. Is he an undercover agent or something? The behaviour of the staff was utterly disappointing the second time we went over and it seemed like we were doing them a favour by exchanging our old car and getting a new one. If Pratham really wishes to be in business, shouldnt it honour its customers, atleast heed to their needs? I am sure this incident will remain with me and affect to Pratham’s disadvantage, the way I perceive Maruti in general and Pratham, in particular.
