My first car - that too a corporate purchase. A privilege. I was looking forward to this. But Pratham made the whole deal turn sour.
The initial sales pitch was great. The sales team came to office.
Gave me a good deal. Spent time with me to answer all my queries. They assured me that my selected model was just waiting for me to be taking out the door. Eventually, it took me 6 weeks and 23 K more to take it out the door.
What went wrong?
- Pratham never had a car for me to buy. It was all sales talk.
- Pratham ran into troubles with my organization - apparently their after sales service got many complaints from employees who had purchased their cars from Pratham and went back for service.
- Pratham revised the corporate discounts - they blamed this on Maruti but I think they jacked up the prices following a review with my company.
- They kept promising me a vehicle only to revise the delivery date to "tomorrow". This happened for a week before I made a few escalations and made them scurry around.
To be fair to them, the model I requested was just not available
anywhere in Bangalore. I checked with multiple dealers before I decided
to stick with them. Also their accessories package was the most competitive in town.
At the time of delivery their service was efficient and I had no hassles in taking the car out.
What really has me bugged is that their sales team never told me the truth. They kept making false promises all the time. I had to follow up with them regularly. They never call you back as promised.
I got my car. Happy? A little but just plain relieved.
