My daughter has been going to Prakriya Green Wisdom School since last 4 years. Me and my husband were actually looking for a school like this where the child could learn at her own pace without feeling pressurised to do so. You get a feel of how happy the kids are as soon as you enter their campus. It has got an old world charm to it. Children are taught to be environment conscious at a very early age. They give importance to overall development of the child and each child is known by name to the teacher since the teacher child ratio is almost all the class is 1:20. The teachers, administrative staff, etc are very polite, open minded and approachable.
They conduct regular PTMs, where parents can interact with the teachers as well as other parents. They are very modest in their approach, as in the younger children are made to sit on their respective chowkis(a small desk) and mats and at the end of the school time they are responsible for keeping their chowkis clean. Teachers are called "aunties". They don't ask parents to pay up anything for their annual day celebrations. In fact, they make do with what the kids already have at home and use them as costumes. Its all kept very simple.
For parents who believe that kids need to have that competitiveness in them to perform well, this is not your type of school. From the 5th grade onwards, marks are allotted to the kids and then kids do understand themselves what competition is. However, there is no comparison from the teacher's side.
It would be better if the school could give some more importance to extra curricular activities. One more point is that from 2nd grade onwards till 4th grade canteen is compulsory, which should ideally be optional. Gradually, they are planning to make it compulsory for all the classes. The food however, is not up to the mark and the children are not happy about the same, though most of the menu is made from organic stuff and is healthy, but taste wise, not at all satisfactory. Hope the school takes note of this thing.
