Its an habit in the western countries
for cinegoers to applaud only when the curtains come down for a film. This time its viewers in theatres award Pithamagan with such a treatment.
This is an entirely serious film if left behind with its scenes for Suryas act. Its a Deepavali treat from the same trio of Director Bala, Vikram and Music maestro Ilayaraja, who have proved their mettle once again to give their worth in cinegoers expectations. Director Balas excellently narrated story, combined with Vikrams splendid performance at par with Hollywoods act standards for psycho acting synchronized with maestro Ilayarajas music symphony.
Director Bala has given his artistic shape to a commercial story. Being born and brought up in the grounds of crematorium and living in a secluded life as a person with animalistic behavior, Vikram meets Surya in prison. His mind meets with Suryas caring and attention and makes him to go to any extreme for Suryas sake.
In between Vikram gets into trouble due his innocence while employed with the Villain who deals in the illegal Ganja trade and schemes a plot. Surya tries to stop the Villains schemes and a net is cast to destroy both the friends. Climax? Vikram is made to go back to the same spot where he has begun his life, due to the films tragic incidents.
Not hesitating to demand exe for exe when opposed, and being dog magic when given care and attention - are the only two sides in Vikrams characterization as Sitthan in the film, he invokes fear with his portrayal. His performance will stay in viewers heart for ever. He is clad with shabby looking rags thro the film. Unkept hair, dirtied looks, blackened teeth will make kids to get scared. After the roles like in Dhool and Saamy this time its a different role in this film. It is still unknown what is left inside the actors image.
Vikram does not have a single dialogue in this film. Can you believe? Its known that he is not dumb but can talk, only when he signs a 3-line song beside a corpse. His hanging of both arms while running acts to look like an animal arising to walk brings howls and cheers in theatres.
Bala is an expert in creating characters and choosing the actors. Surya who played has a tough looking IPS officer in Kaaka Kaaka dons the role of a con man in this film. He is a portrayal of a cheating personality whom you come across in the day today life of a commoner. His acts in the scenes to create chaos suppress Karunaas-Manobalas acts and irking Laila is a joyful note.
about sangeetha, she is very sponatnoeus and natural.she deserves appreciation for her portrayal .
The mentionable credits in the films screen play are -
1. Vikrams impressive character. This sycopant anger till the reach of Simran is the effort of this characters detail to its minute. How or where did Bala fill about such a character who is secluded by the society and lives amidst burning corpses?
2. The slack in screen play occurred in his earlier work for the film Nanda has been made alright this time. Tto give pace to his scenes, interesting dialogues and capsulated happenings for the film none of the films scenes have suffered a set back. Especially by creating a commercial priest role amidst Vikrams murderous thrashing. Scenes in jails and a few hilarious moments in Vikrams behavior is also an example.
3. Saving the film without inserting a song and sequence for commercial sake.
4. Suryas lending of shoulder to an orphaned Vikram and his repayment as safeguarding Surya is a first time depiction. By a film director as a poetic form of friendship between two men with different characters which has not been shown till date.
5. A special note for not showing the usual hips gyrating Simran but with as a fully covered dancer. Kidnapping her while playing as cine actor to making her dance in a village is a wound healing effort amidst the heart wrenching scenes.
Are you asking why no comments from cinesouth.com on Lailas acts? Lailas role is a polytechnic girl impresses with her exorbitant acts for which she was believed to do.
The list of minor hiccups - knowing about Surya as a Con man and a cheat Laila falls in love with his in a instant. The Villain cultivates Ganja crop without inviting any ones attention. And why is it that Vikram has not uttered a work till the last? How is he spared by the police after being thrashed?
The story is unknown till the last moment until the Villain commits a murder.
The best scenes in the film? Vikrams thrashing and dragging of the Villain who terrorize Surya in front of Laila. Director does the walking.
Balasubramaniams camera penetrating of locations (especially Ganja gardens in the forest) strengthens the scenes. Eventhough excelling given when with very little space to work only in songs, the maestro has done his act as Bhishma in the film BGM. It challenges befittingly the director and the actor during the climax. This is needed in competition brace your selves folks to join this great action.
It may be murmured as another sorrowful story from Bala. But Pithamagan is the best. Every one can become Dad and Mum but its a miracle to become blessed parents. Kollywood has become a blessed parent once more
