The HQ912 is an electric shaver from Philips which is two headed, compact and somewhat cost efficient. I bought this razor for my father as a birthday gift, he has used it couple of times and found it efficient, but he still swears by the normal razor. The one time I used it gave a close shave but there was irritation and redness afterwards but I didn't use any sort of lubricant and that may be the reason. As I don't shave and only trim I haven't tried the product afterwards.
To product description, The outer are made of somewhat good quality plastic and the handle is made of rubber. the overall form-factor is small but even for someone like me who has a large hand it is comfortable to hold. The two heads house one rotating blade each, the blades are of very good quality and even after more than 3 years of ownership and constant negligence there is no sign of rusting.
The heads also move in place, thereby giving at-least in theory, clean shave in hard to reach corners, but ive found removing some stubble to be difficult. The blades are also removable and easy to clean. Also they are waterproof and can be used with lubricant and shaving foam. So overall it has all the features for a nice shaver, and for an mrp of rs1800 and easily available in market under 1500 it is definitely a good buy.
But all the features doesn't work efficiently. As I mentioned earlier I had irritation after shaving and that it may be justified because I didn't use foam or any lubricant, but even with lubricant I don't think the design of the heads allow for a smooth glide and hence for someone with sensitive skin it can cause problems. Alos a friend of mine who uses it regularly complained that when the beard is a bit thick the motor gets stuck and has to be cleaned multiple times during a shave.
This product will best suited for someone who wants a shave while on the go, as the design is compact carrying it around will not be a problem and also on a single charges it has enough juice for at-least 6-7 shaves. And also the battery doesn't dissipate when kept idle for sometime, even after non use of 3-4 months ive operated it and found the product working at full speed. And also for someone who needs a affordable yet efficient shaver I would definitely recommend it despite some of its shortcomings.
