Have been using this for 2 years now.
Plays original DVD/CDs well.
But in some rented CDs(pirated, I guess), I noticed an audio lag, which can be irritating. Those same CDs play well without problems in a computer or some other DVD player(like Onida) when I tested. I think this problem is with CDs burnt in a certain way. in some rented CDs from another shop, I did not see the same problem on my player. but the fact remains that my computer or another DVD player plays back a CD properly, whereas this model shows an audio lag.
I did go to a couple of service centers. The guy in the service center in Domlur had no idea what the problem I was describing and was defending saying there is some problem on the speed with which the cd might have been written - and asked me to write with 4x speed. I burnt a new CD with that speed, but still same issue. I took this to a JayaNagar service center(after a lot of email follow ups and explaining with the Philips customer service), and they kept a copy of the CD I gave saying they need to contact their technical team in Pune or someplace. so, basically the service center had no clue on how to fix this. I still have the same problem today. haven't heard back anything from them yet.
- Recently after almost 2 years, I noticed a problem where if I insert any cd/dvd, it ejects out immediately. Not sure what is wrong. I need to take it to a service center to find out what the problem is. Since I have crossed the 1 year warranty period, I am told the repair cost would be some 160-200 rs or so, when I called up the customer care.
[Consequent Update: The philips service centre finally fixed it by replacing the underlying board itself. and it cost my 1200 rs or so!:-( ]
