No words to describe the beauty of Periyar Wild Life. An azure blue lake. blackened tree stumps protruding from the water like an army of ancient totems. The unearthly wail of the Osprey carrying across the waters and an emerald green forest that disappears intothe hills. Takes your breath away with images you are unlikely to witness enywhere else in India. The sanctury is open from 6 am to 6 pm. Boat rides to view the animals are at 7 am, 9.30 am, 11.30 am, 2 pm, 4 pm,. Elephant rides around Tekkady, a small town is also available with private travelling agencies.
Periyar House, a Govt Resort is good to stay at in periyar jungle where you can see and enjoy animals from very near.. artificial lake is a funtastic, panaromic view. one can also trekk the jungle with the camps organised by the hotel.
