Hello fellow sufferers, I don't know whether it happens anywhere else but it happened yesterday in the Bus that I was travelling with my wife and few friends. Paulo had arranged for a bus which is operated under the name Krishna Varun Travels.
There were 3 people who were in the driver's cabin, including driver, the ticket collecter/manager(I don't know what) and the mechanic. Then near Panjim a man boarded which I think was a friend of the driver(He said so to the Paulo coordinator) and occupied one of the seats allotted to us. After some time he started drinking the alcohol which he was carrying in mineral water bottle mixed with water, I guess!
I was the one who was sitting next to him and one could easily smell that it was alcohol.
The limit was crossed when he shared the drink with those 3 fellows sitting in the driver's cabin and so that no one can see, the ticket collector tried to hide the cabin by covering it with the small curtain. But to his misfortune I saw driver drink the mixture with my own eyes.
After they were done with their business you could easily notice the difference between the way that guy was driving the bus. It was rash, irresponsible and dangerous.
I didn't see any proper mechanism at the state border to check if the driver is under influence of alcohol or not. Then due to his rash driving their were two occasions when we had to stop the bus to get the tyres changed due to punctures.
At 3.30 in the night somewhere between sawantwadi and Kolhapur bus finally gave up to the brutality it had incurred. It broke down. And from 3.30 till 6.30 we were left to suffer in a non-ac bus till the help arrived. There was no communication from Paulo, the mechanic or whoever he was, was not capable to get the bus to start again as he could barely get his hand-eye co-ordination right due to some'spirited' reasons! Finally we took the matter in our own hands and luckily at around 6.40 a bus was stopped and we boarded that bus, purchasing new tickets without receiving any compensatory amount from Paulo or Krishna Varun travels. We reached Pune at 12 noon today i.e 11th October, 18 hours! in a bus with hearts in our mouth.
One thing that I forgot to mention is the attitude of the coordinator from Paulo and the driver. The coordinator was behaving in a way as if had done a favor to me by giving me seats in a bus in which he's a mere employee. Secondly but most importantly the insensitivity and the despicable attitude shown by driver when I asked him if we(Including 3 ladies) quickly go to the restroom as the bus was waiting for passengers to arrive at mhapusa, he with his disgusting attitude said you cannot go anywhere till we say so! I mean who does that!
I request all the readers to avoid such "service providers" who think that they are doing us favor by allowing us to use their travels services. Paulo and Krishna Varun Travels, it's a shame that you are managing such important services so poorly!
