The most fascinating place in J&K is Pahalgam.It is 90 kms from Srinagar and situated between the snow capped mountains in upper himalaya. The beauty of this place is leder river which flows through the mountains and goes hand in hand with the main road. The best time to visit is between May & June when the climate is at its best. The place where we stayed (Senator - Pine & Peak) is out of the world and situated on top of the hill which gives you a bird - eye view of the city on one side and the mountains on the other side. People out here literally touches your heart with their warm behaviour. Food is excellent and so is the ambience of the hotel where we stayed. There is a small shopping area in the town which hosts all sorts of materials including woollens/shawl/stole etc. ideal for women. This place has got a fantastic amusement park for the children which has all kinds of funny rides.
This time we could not go river rafting which will be accomplished next year.
Recommended best for couples who want solace in the lap of himalayas in utmost luxury.
