Parineeta is a classy, good album....much like the movie. The music reflects and complement the movie perfectly. The songs that really stood out from the album, in my humble opinion, were:
1.Piyu
Bole- Simple, almost childlike lyrics....they dont make much sense till you actually watch the movie and see how the song is composed. Then you are able to appreciate the lovely melody and the emotive singing of Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal.
2. Kasto Mazza- A feel good song, very uplifting. Again, complements the scene it was composed for perfectly. Sung beautifully by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. The childrens voices in the chorus is a great touch.
3. Soona man ka aangan- not as good as the previously mentioned songs, but again, it is picturised well. A bit high pitched for my taste (and Im sure Sonu Nigam strained his vocal chords!), but the female voice coming in was a master stroke....changing the whole mood of the track.
4- Kaisi Paheli hai zindagani- A catchy song. Well sung by Sunidhi.
5. Raat Hamaari tho- am not a big fan of Chitras...might have liked the song had it been sung by someone else.
Dont remember the other songs. A good album overall.
If you liked this album...catch the soundtrack of YAHAAN by Shantanu Moitra (can listen to it on www.musicindiaonline.com)...especially the song NAAM ADAA LIKHNA. A beautiful song......very evocative of Kashmir. If Parineeta is any indication, the songs in Yahaan also probably go really well with the movie.
