Horrible Experience with Pandit Automotives Pimpri

Horrible experience with Pandit Automotives Pimpri branch with a representative named Kedar Utpat. He is extremely deceitful in all his dealings with customers and does not come across as trustworthy.

I had taken a test driven a tata nano with him sometime in July and had asked him about the availability of the newly launched 2013 nano, to which he had informed that it will not be available before Diwali. I inquired separately with other dealers and directly with Tata Motors and was told that it would be available from the last week of July or the first week of August. I had also asked him to inform me when it gets launched. He did not.

When I myself called the dealer last Saturday, I was told that it was already available for the last 3-4 days. Thereafter I went to the showroom to book the same.

First of all Mr. Kedar quoted me higher price for the new nano, which was a good 1000 Rs. more than the actual published price. When we approached his manager in the same showroom they advised to take a fresh quotation from the system, which he did after keeping me waiting for 10 mins. and came back without a fresh print out of quotation, instead just told me another price which was between the published price and the one that he was quoting.

In addition he told me that the RTO charges and Registration charges were NOT dependent on the price and they are fixed, after probing more, I found that he was indeed lying and that these charges do depend on the base price, which would result in a further reduction in price. Despite multiple requests he never produced the quotation that he generated on their so called 'system'.

He also informed me that there are no discounts (including corporate) on the new nano, which I today know was false after inquiring from other dealers (they are providing corporate discounts). At that time I took his word on face value and went ahead with the booking.

The only reason for my booking despite so much suspicion and his inconsistent behaviour was that he categorically informed me that if I make full payment of the vehicle by cheque (they also informed that if I make payment by credit card, it will cost 2% more) before Monday, he will definitely (100%) (shambhar takke in marathi was his word that he repeated profoundly about 50 times) deliver the car to me by Tuesday evening, with registration done.

Because of this assurance and since I wanted the car on an urgent basis, I made Rs. 10K booking payment on Saturday itself and booked the car and made full balance payment on Sunday by cheque along with all the documents. Even after that he again repeated his assurances multiple times that I will get the vehicle 100% on Tuesday evening. If he had not made this promise, I would perhaps not have booked the car with him at all.

On Monday (today) he calls me and informs that he cannot make the delivery on Tuesday and gave multiple untenable reasons for the same (like it will take time for the cheque to clear, which he knew upfront, or that RTO takes time, which also he knew upfront, so why make false promises). When none of these reasons worked with me he also tried to give a twist and mentioned he had some personal problem (basically give some reason and by hook or crook, get an excuse to not fulfil the false promises  they make) I have categorically informed him that if he cannot meet his stated promise of being able to deliver the car on time, I would cancel my booking with him (which I am surely going to do). He is yet to get back to me.

So almost all his interactions with me have been suspect and full with opportunistic and deceitful behaviour (basically lying for short term gain). These guys thinks that they can get away with whatever they do, make false promises, deceive customers in order to make the customers make payments and they go back on their word.

This is totally contrary the core values of Tata, who are known for their value, trustworthiness and keeping promises.
