What do u expect from a cellphone, apart from doing the talking, that is? Messaging, downloading ringtones, and of course the odd missed calls?
I never wanted to buy non-nokia cellphone. Nokia is trusted brand and everyone you see around you has Nokia. Besides, there is another advantage. I live in a hostel and so usually dont spend nights in my room. If you have Nokia, then you dont need to worry about carrying the charger since everyone else has Nokia. I was dead sure I am having a Nokia in the range of 5-6K.
The look-price combo upset the decision. The mechanical-switch operatable flap of the color cellphone with the black outer skin/ silver inner skin was available to me at Rs 5500/-. It had GPRS and other few things that u normally expect from a modest cellphone. How could have I resisted that? I bought it. The brand new Panasonic A500.
With a resolution of 64K colors, it is far ahead of Nokia and Samsung color mobiles of similar range. But I miss my favourite game : Snake. I just love it. But, I guess, I will have to let it go. Its noise-free and pretty easy to use as well.
There is more. You could record your voice and then do other stufff with the file. Like, setting customised ringtones, or as an alarm. I recorded ''The Bitch is calling. Dont pick up the phone'' at the top of my voice and thus I am warned in advance everytime Miss X calls me. Another is Memory remains song by Metallica. I am used to be woken up in the morning by this song, earlier by computer, now by mobile and that too, in my voice.
But the real let down is the battery charging(CT) and discharging time(DT). Both these duration are opposite of what they are in Nokia. CT is 2hours and DT is standby max 36 hours. And in case u are used to games, then You will have to charge dont-know-how frequently.
I rate it above any of the Nokias or Samsungs or LGs on the range below 7000/-. Buy it pal.
