My wife and I boarded the train on the 5th of March 2008 and cannot recommend this train. The cabin was far away from "luxury". Especially

the aircon in our cabin was extremely loud and had just two levels: little on or maximum on. The bathroom was clean but very shabby.

          

Our cabin was wall on wall to the generator which was so loud that we were not able to hear the normal sound of a moving train. This problem was known to the crew. However, the train manager told us, that we can leave the train if we don’t like it (of course on our own costs).

          

The dinner was in two shifts: the passengers in the first shift had to have their dinner in 60-70 minutes to make place for the hungry passengers in the second shift.

          

The food itself was good but we expected some special indian food and got a mixture between european and indian style.

          

All together I think the train is not worth the money. If you want to visit India and all the great places (you can see during the journey with Pow) I recommend staying the nights in the Palaces and luxury hotels in the cities. They are very good and can keep up easily with the upper international standards. For the price you pay for the train you can hire a first class four wheel car, a driver and a personnel attendant for the packing and unpacking.
