Relive the royal experience. Review on Palace On Wheels

My recent visit to India was extremely interesting as I got a chance to fulfill one of my long cherished dreams! The dream was to explore across the length and breadth of India aboard a luxury train. Well if not entirely, at least I got a chance to travel to some of the most acclaimed destinations of the north, all renowned for their heritage and cultural significance. On board the Palace on Wheels we got a chance to travel across some of the popular destinations in Rajasthan as well as the spectacular Agra! Wow! The Taj Mahal sojourn was something that I will cherish forever.

My luxury journey began in New Delhi, the national capital and soon travelled to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. As I had expected, the journey was fun and exhilarating and the sightseeing to the popular monuments was especial as well. Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort, City Palace. The list of the places that we visited here is endless. After Jaipur we traveled to Jaisalmer, the city on yellow sandstone.

Jaisalmer as you all know is most well known for its sand dunes and havelis and the camel ride to the dunes made the trip particularly memorable. Jodhpur and Sawai Madhopur were the next destinations that we visited and the Ranthambore National Park and the visit to the Umaid Bhawan Palace will surely linger on in my heart forever. The national park is especially known for its tigers and the bountiful flora besides the fauna is indeed very impressive. The grand residence of the Maharaja of Jodhpur, the Umaid Bhawan Palace, is one place that exudes royalty and stateliness from all corners. Every occasion in this palace is celebrated in great style and besides visiting this palace; we also got a chance to visit the Mehrangarh fort and the Jaswant Thada, two equally imposing attractions. Chittorgarh and Udaipur are destinations that are known for their distinct charm and lineage and manage to entice the visitors to no bounds. The trip to Agra, particularly to view the magnificent Taj Mahal was simply awesome.

Believe me, I had visited these places before and this particular visit was more spectacular owing to the luxury train ride. The facilities aboard including the tastefully done up cabins and the dining lounge as well as the souvenir shop, completed our recreational and gastronomic requirements to the fullest and to refresh our weary senses, the in house Spa of the Palace on Wheels held several surprises….
