Over the last few weeks, sports columns across all newspapers have been carrying reports about the battle between India and Pakistan
which begins tomorrow. We are only a few hours short of the toss at Mohali. I just decided to write about a team that is so unpredictable and on their day can upset the best of the oppositions and on a bad day can fall like a pack of cards. I have written about the members of this Pakistan outfit and their statistical highlights have been given in the comments section.

Inzamam Ul-Haq

D. O.B – March 3, 1970
The captain of the ship and arguably one of the best batsmen in contemporary cricket. Adept at playing both the pacers and spinners, he will be raring to settle scores against the Indians.
He would obviously know that this would be his last series in India and the sleeping giant would be waiting for the toss at Mohali.

Taufeeq Umar

D.O.B- June 20, 1981

One of the talented left handers in the young Pakistani brigade. Taufeeq plays shots all round the ground. Being in and out of the team has not helped his cause and would be waiting to cement his place in this Pakistan outfit. More comfortable against pace than spin.

Yasir Hameed

D. O.B – February 28, 1978

The second man in the history of test cricket to have scored a hundred in each innings on debut. Since then he has flattered to deceive and that has led to his downfall. He had done reasonably well during last year’s Indo – Pak series and that has to his selection in this series. A touch artiste, Hameed’s strengths are his flowing drives square of the wicket.

Salman But

D.O.B- October 7, 1984

Impressed everyone when he scored an unbeaten 108 against India at Eden Gardens and helped his team to win the One day series. He also warmed the hearts of the Pakistanis with his knocks of 70 at Melbourne and a century in Sydney against the likes of McGrath, Gillespie and Warne. Needs to better his defensive technique.

Younis Khan

D.O.B- November 29, 1977

Man!! This guy is of the mould of Shivnarain chanderpaul of West Indies team. He is very boring but thing is that he possesses patience and grit which is so much essential when you are playing at home. Hasn’t benefited greatly from being shunted around the battery order.

Abdul Razzaq -

D.O.B- December 2, 1979

A genuine all rounder and lends balance to the side with all rounder status. Bowls briskly and is handy when it comes to batting down the lower order. Can attack the bowling and be of great help if Pakistan gets in a position where they are looking to force a declaration and hunt for quick runs.

Asim Kamal

D.O.B – May 31, 1976

Here is a player who relies more on grit than flair. He is a must on Indian wickets where a collapse in the middle and third session is always on the cards. He is one player whose runs come mostly through nudges and pushes.

Yousuf Youhana

D.O.B- August 27, 1974

A dangerous middle order batsman in this Pakistan line up. Relies on wristy stroke play especially through point and cover. Has a tendency to fall over while playing on the leg side and get LBW.

Shahid Afridi

D.O.B- March 1, 1980

Has been in the team for a longtime now and still is going in and out for most part of his career. Still regarded as the most explosive batsmen in contemporary cricket who lifts his performance when it comes to playing against India.

Shoaib Malik

D.O.B – February1, 1982

I wish the ICC were kind enough to make him bowl in the matches before the tour began. He for sure would be coming to India with his confidence low, but will also keep in mind that his performance here will count in his career the most.

Kamran Akmal (WK)

D.O.B- January 13, 1982

Plays cricket much similar to the way Moin Khan used to. His keeping must improve drastically if it has to come in comparison with Moin. Plays with a lot of flair especially on the off side. His contributions can be of great help in the lower order. Plays pace and spin equally well.

Danish Kaneria

D.O.B- January 16, 1980

Another Leggie on the bloke. Much slower through the air, has a good loop going and lures batsmen through flight. He will have to guard against the tendency of pitching short at times.

Rana Naved Ul-Hasan

D.O.B. – February 28, 1978

Has a never say die attitude which sets him apart from his team members and gets him wickets most of the times. Good choice of opening the attack and uses the old ball to good effect. Rana bowls a good Yorker and can strike lusty blows lower down the order.

Mohd. Sami

D.O.B- February 24, 1981

The one who will spearhead the attack atleast till akhtar arrives in India. Bowls a good out swinger with the new ball and uses the old ball to a good effect.
His stubborn batting could see him win an endorsement deal from an adhesive company.

Arshad Khan

D.O.B- March 22, 1971

Last played international cricket 5 years ago and was surprised with his selection in the first place. Could be the dark horse in this tour with his controlled offspin, considering that there are a host of left handers in the Indian line up.

Mohd. Khalil

D.O.B- November 11, 1982

A rookie as far as International cricket is concerned. Bowls briskly and swings the ball into right handers much like Pathan. Not much is expected of him and has nothing to lose in this series.
We now proceed to the comments section to have a look at the statistics of the Pakistan team.

Please not that the statistics that are mentioned for each and every player is pertaining to the test match career and does not consider the One day statistics at all.

I hope that this review will be of use to all those Cricket fans who will be eagerly watching the dream series.

MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN!!!
