Tailoring:- 9.5/10

Service:- 7/10

Store Ambiance/Decor:- 4/10

Convenience of Location:- 8/10

I purchased my first PN Rao suit on a whim due to a last minute notification regarding the dress code for my high school graduation ceremony in April of this year. My prom was to be the following night and I had purchased a rather high end suit from Hugo Boss for the occasion months in advance.

I was initially skeptical about going to PN Rao for the suit, as I am very particular about the fit and quality; and at 5'10" 64kgs(140lbs.) slim, athletic build, I have a difficult time with ready-made suits(A 36R is too small and a 38R is a bit boxy unless it has been altered) on top of that I had heard both positive and negative comments about the tailoring there. However, with hardly two weeks until my graduation, I did not see any other options within my budget.

I went in to the M.G. Road branch, and picked out my fabric, a black Australian merino wool at a surprising rs.16k for the suit length. The master tailor then came out and discussed with me what I wanted out of my suit. I explained to him that I preferred a slim fit that would accentuate my v-shape without looking too boxy, and with a decent amount of waist suppression. I requested that the jacket be two-button with a slightly thinner than usual lapel, and two side vents; I asked that the trousers be made slim as well.

After that, my measurements were taken at an alarmingly fast pace, this had me quite worried so I gave the final measurements a look-over and was surprised to see that it was all accurate(this was not my first MTM suit.)

I had informed the tailor of the urgency of the situation and he had assured me the suit would be ready by the date, (15 days later) and he asked me to come in 10 days later(11th April) for a fitting.

The day had finally arrived, and I had been edgy all week worrying about the fitting, and I left my residential school in the morning for a day of shopping for my shirt, tie, and other accessories, when I suddenly received an SMS from PN Rao stating that my suit would not be ready for the fitting and that I should come in the following day. Irritated, I called PN Rao to express my dissatisfaction with their ability to keep their word. Nevertheless, I prepared to find a hotel to stay the night at when I suddenly received a call from the tailors to inform me that my suit was actually ready for the fitting and that I should come in immediately. I went to the fitting and was pleasantly surprised with the fit of the both the jacket and the trousers. I returned to school that night extremely satisfied.

On the 16th of April, the day before my graduation, and also the day my suit was to be ready; I received a call from the tailors at PN Rao telling me that my suit was ready. I promptly sent a friend to pick it up and tried it on the moment I received it.

Tailoring:- The fit was indescribably flawless. The shoulders came around without looking too boxy. The lapel was made exactly as I had requested, and the inner lining was sturdy and clean looking. Another nice detail was the fact that they had stitched my name on the inside of the left breast. The sleeves came down perfectly to the point where my cuff-links showed when I bend my elbows.(note: I did not purchase my shirt from PN Rao, and after browsing their selection, I would not recommend it) The length was also satisfactory. The only thing that I didn't like was the poorly made fake buttonhole on the lapel.

I received numerous compliments on the suit at my graduation. It was easily one of the best suit purchases I have made in my life, and at a mere rs.20, 000 it was certainly worth the money. Many people told me that my suit looked better than those of my classmates who had gotten theirs at the MTM(Made-to-Measure) selection of Armani Collezioni and Richard James at "The Collective" priced upwards rs.65k.

While my experience at PN Rao for their suits was fairly satisfying, I was appalled by their terrible selection of shirts, ties, belts, and cuff-links. So for those parts of a formal outfit I recommend looking elsewhere like UB City or The Collective(If you can afford it), as they have a much better selection. My only other complaint about PN Rao is that the service was severely lacking.

Note: Despite my age(18), I have a fairly vast amount of experience with suits, and I know what separates a "fine" suit from a mediocre one. I have been to London on several occasion with my father who has the majority of his bespoke suits made by the finest tailors on Savile Row.
