Cons:
doesn't take the iron out

Out here in the boonies where I live we have well water that has an unbelievable amount of iron in the water. It is so bad that I have to clean toilets and showers and bathtubs every other day, and should
the toilets every day. But since that requires too much work, I go with every other day.

Any way, our clothes get ruined as well sometimes. And I have tried a lot of products in helping me to get the iron out! To no avail! I have always seen the Infomercials about the OxiClean Stain Specialist and had hoped for a long time that it would be brought into the stores. Well that has finally happened and so I bought some.

The Product

OxiClean® The Stain Specialist is a multi-purpose stain remover. You can use it in your clothes, on your carpets, on your furniture, in you vehicles and many other uses.

From the container: “ OxiClean is more than just a tough, color safe, organic stain remover and deodorizer for clothes and carpets. It also removes stains and odors all throughout your house. Use OxiClean on grout, shower curtains, trashcans, garbage disposer, aquariums, unfinished wood decks and many other surfaces. OxiClean is effective at removing stains from wine, juice, pet messes and more. You control the strength of OxiClean to match the problems. Use warm to hot water to dissolve crystals thoroughly. Always test for colorfastness first by applying to an inconspicuous area and allowing it to dry.” Now let’s talk about this a little bit.

I have to admit that the product did not take the iron out of the white cloths, but it did help do away with the odor from my husband’s uniforms. I was so sure that this product would take the iron out of the white clothes in my home, but it did not and I was very sad.

I have also used it to clean out my refrigerator and that works well. Wiping down the outside makes it shine too! I have not used it for any of my furniture as of yet, but plan to try soon. Although it does make me a little nervous to do so, so I will test an area that cannot be seen first.

Cleaning the stove and outside of the dishwasher has been easy as well. Left them shining! I have also used it to mop my floors. And have been most satisfied with it. The dirt on the floors came up easy, even the scuffmarks came up with ease! I was really grateful for that!

How To Mix

For general purpose in your home like: upholstery, fabrics, and all water washable household surfaces 1/8 scoop is all you need. You can apply the cleaner directly to the counter, add a little water, mix it around some and let stand for about 5 minutes, maybe a little longer is the stains need it. That is what I do.

For laundry, you will need to use at least a full scoop! I sometimes use 2 of them, depends on the dirt on the clothes and the odor. This is per load of clothes. Wash in warm water as much as you can. The product does not work as well in cold water, this I know.

Also, 1 scoop is recommended for the kitty liter and trashcans. You simply put the solution in the container, add warm water, let soak and then wipe with cloth or soft scrub brush and rinse. That’s it! If I can do it you can do it! This amount is to be used per gallon.

Now as a carpet spot remover, test an area first. If this is okay then use just 1/8 scoop of product. Let set for 5 to 30 minutes, rinse thoroughly with fresh water, and then blot. This amount is per 16 oz water.

For your tile and grout in the bathroom use 1 scoop per 2 Tbsp. Water. Mix the solution until it is damp and gritty. Then apply to the surface you want cleaned. Let stand for about an hour.

I have used OxiClean for all the above accept the furniture and kitty litter. I don’t have a cat and haven’t gotten the nerve up yet for the furniture. Thus far it has worked great!

The Container and Cost

The container is a white little bucket with a white handle. The size I got is 56 oz (3.5lbs) (1.58kg). The cost at my local Wal Mart was $6.96. There are larger sizes available for higher prices.

Also, you can find this product in your local grocery stores and drug stores now. You can also buy online at various places. Prices do vary from store to store.

The container is recyclable so check your local area. Also, if you clean the container out really well you can use it at home for putting hubbies loose nuts and bolts in. Or other items as well.

There are directions for each use on the back and please read them carefully before use. Please read the cautions as well. And do keep out of reach of small children. If swallowed can be harmful, call your doctor or poison control immediately.

How I Feel

Well I feel great about this product. But, like I said I have been disappointed with it as far as getting the iron of the white clothes.

But overall I have enjoyed it. It is easy to use and seems to do a great job with everything else. I certainly recommend you all trying some.

The price is not to bad either. I have had this little bucket now for over 3 months. I use it with each load of good clothes, the uniforms and the towels and I wash clothes, all of them, twice a week.

The scoop is small, but the product is powerful The container is really noticeable in the stores. It will have the blue front with the bubbles on it, OxiClean The Stain Specialist Multi Purpose Stain Remover on the front, and the green little germ running away! It is chlorine free and I like that too!

I hope that this has helped in some kind of way.

God Bless!
