I personally think this was Sidney Sheldon's best book.After that is If Tomorrow comes.The Other side of Midnight is such a book that it will nag you for days.At least it did me.I realised the true meaning of the saying (HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A WOMAN SCORNED).The story is of a girl called Noelle Page who is a fisherman's daughter.Right from a small age she has lofty ambitions and she sets out to get them realised.She stops at nothing to realise her dreams and commits the graetest mistake of all i.e falling in love.But the man she is in love with a pilot called Larry is also like her who does not give a damn for anyone's emotions and uses her and leaves her.She gets pregnant by him and her hatred knows no bounds when she realises that he has left her.The scene where she aborts herself with a coat hanger is absolutely terrifying.It still gives me the shivers.This act sets the precedent for her cold blooded nature which is evident throughout the book.Years later after settling down with a greek tycoon she tracks Larry down who by now is married to a sweet girl called Catherine.How Noelle takes her revenge on Larry forms the rest of the book.this book highlights the extent to which humans can go to to screw someone's happiness.Simply, mind boggling.The climax is superb which is a trademark of Sidney Sheldon.If you like your stories with lots of unpredictability then The Other Side of Midnight is all yours.A nice weekend book.
