This book really had me turning the pages as fast as I could go without skipping anywhere on the story. with this book sidney sheldon surpassed himself by creating characters who will always remain imprinted in my mind.
noelle page - such a powerful character that her sensuality and anger were both emnating out of the pages. the pages in which she is scorned and angry simply burnt the tips of my fingers.
constantan dermis - noelle's equal in every sense and the world's richest man who cud buy kings and presidents at the flick of a finger.
nicolas chotas - the ugly and plain looking lawyer who hid a very deceptive and devilish mind behind his pathetically ugly eyes.
larry douglas - the charming casanova who simply has a different kind of way with women who left behind him a trail of broken hearts the foremost of them being noelle.
catherine alexander - larry's innocent wife who unknowingly gets sucked into the whirlpool created by the others .
it all starts from an impending courtroom scene where larry and noelle are on trial for the murder of catherine douglas (alexander) . then it all goes into a full book flash back as to how it all started. noelle page is an unknown small village girl who runs away to paris to save herself from her father who has sold her to a paunchy shopkeeper. here she meets larry douglas who beds her and then promises to marry her. on the day of her wedding he dissappears and she discovers that she is pregnant. the scene in which she lets the child grow to a full 6 months or so and then aborts herself with a twisted coat hanger still shocks the living daylights out of me. then she makes herself powerful enough so that one day she can exact her revenge from him. she lends credibility to the old addage ''HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A WOMAN SCORNED ''. then she meets ''COSTA''.
constantan (costa) dermis is the greek millionaire who has everything in life except noelle. even though she is his mistress and seemingly loves him, yet he does not own her.when noelle gets convicted for the murder of catherine , costa calls on nicolas chotas.
nicolas chotas the weak and plain looking lawyer who is able to move juries from wrong to right and often vice versa with his glib talk and devious mind. if any of u have seen the movie ''meri jung'' starring anil kapoor as a lawyer then u wud remember the case in which anil kapoor saves his client from being convicted of poisoning by drinking the poison himself in the courtroom has been taken from this book. on the command of constantan dermis he fights the case for noelle and larry.
Larry Douglas is the charming casanova who is able to melt girls hearts with his pearly smile and beds them and disappears from their lives. even though catherine knows of his character but still she falls in love with him despite hating him. and then she marries him just 2 days before her marriage to someone else. larry is an ex-war pilot who is not able to find any jobs until he suddenly lands a job with constantan dermis on the indirect recommendation of noelle page. after larry and noelle meet they plan to eliminate catherine.
Catherine Alexander - Her life as a fumbling school girl is beautifully potrayed. Her marriage to larry seems like she has settled for life. But fate has something ugly in store for her.
Overall an amazing book and everyone must read it. its sequel - memoirs of midnight is good but nothing even comes close to even touch '' THE OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT ''
