What I can’t seem to understand is why they have the official description of the audio book. Surely they should have an official review for the book itself, which is so compelling in its tale of two maverick gamblers who find refuge in each other-Reverend Oscar Hopkins, the quirky priest with a phobia for water, and Lucinda Leplastrier, an independent woman who owns a glass factory. Set against a rich Australian background, and peopled with other intriguing characters, this book pulls you gently into the lives of this odd couple, portrayed very convincingly on screen by Ralph Fiennes and Cate Blanchett.Peter Carey has brought out the complexities of each characters eccentric nature wonderfully, interlaced with breathtaking imagery and subtle humor.
