Orkutting is one of the most comment activity that we all Indian like to do while browsing on net. Well, we all open our account in Orkut, which is a kind of fashion now a days. Besides, there are several other social networking websites, but they are not as popular as Orkut.

I am literally thankful to Orkut for letting me find my old school mates and childhood friends, like a wish come true. I wonder why we people like orkut othen any other social networking.

Here are few things which i have discovered why we like it.

The very first thing i would like bring about orkut is its user-friendliness. Belive me, sites like Myspace and facebook, doesn’t have that simplicity. When we use orkut, we know what is where. But if we open any other site, we get confused, because the they have put all the links on single page only.

Orkut also have largest number of Indian users(after Brazil and US), which reflects indeed, you search for anyone, you get Indians everywhere.

The most attractive thing in orkut is the community feature. Though, similar kind of feature is available on other sites as well, but orkut is on a lead here. That is why we find communities of our societies, schools, institutions, work places to find our batchmates, colleagues and buddies.

The photo-locking facility is quite great and its has also started to add customized applications to make it more attractive. The built-in chat application in sidebar is very helpful as you need not to download Gtalk client.

The last and the least "profile visiter". We all curious to see who is visiting our profile and wants to know if thats a comment friend or not...lol

Thats the reason we always ask "hey do u have a profile in orkut" and most of the time the answer is "Yes".

But there are few shortcomings i noticed like shortage is themes. Indeed, there is lack of themes in orkut. You can also not block user from visiting your profile. But i believe you can only opt of "ignore user", people hardly know that, which is kind of invisible.
You can only add videos from videos sharing websites, that means they are indirectly promoting Google videos and youtube. You got no choice to upload and share video straighaway to Orkut. You can’t even comment on the video as you can only send a scrap to the user.

If you want to scrap a person who is not in your friend list and who has applied security to not accept scrap apart from his friend list, you got a hard time. The only option for you to send him a "Message" or call him up....lol

Other social networking websites are also very good like Bigadda, Myspace and Facebook with several features, but to them you have to spare some time and for Orkut, you don’t.
