OBC is very close to my house so I opted to open a current account there. I recieved a remittence of $600 from US for the service I provided them. The payment was cleared on Thursday. On monday I went to the bank to check my account balance. It showed no sign of any payment recieved. I waited till another two days. On wednesday i again went to the bank....no paymenet there. I checked with my client and they said that the payment has been cleared from there account.
I approached tha bank again and requested to look for the payment. They said that once they recieve anything they will tell me. On my insisting and shwoing them the transaction ID from my client they sent me to the manager. The manager who was out for a 2 hour lunch made me wait for another hour because of an important meeting in the bank. By the time the meeting was over it was already 5:30 in the evening. time to close the bank. the manager promised me to look into my case tomorrow.
I went to the bank early in the morning and approached the manager.
He asked me if I have any proof that the payment has to come to my account, huh!. I went back to my home and brought the invoice and the transaction details.
By the time I came back he was busy with somethig.I waited till lunch time before I was able to catch him. Then he called up some branch to check the status of my payment. The other branch guy told him that the payment has been recieved but was not updated in my account. No reason given.
The other day I had to go to that other branch (24 KM away from my home) to shout at them and make them transfer the payment in my account in front of me.
As soon as the payment was credited to my account I withdrew each and every single penny and asked to close the account.
Now I have Axis bank account. My money is transferred in my account the minute it clears the foriegn exchange. I dont even have to call these guys up cause I have the sms balance check facility. I can make transaction over the net and dont have to wait till lunch hour to speak with a manager.

OBC is a disaster, full of sarkari babus who have got this job after paying bribes. My advice ...avoid it like plague.
