The book covers Oracle architecture from a tuning point of view and explains how and which parameters contribute to lack of performance.
The explanation is lucid with adequate examples from real world issues.What makes the book different from others is careful examination of each default oracle DataBase params and then how they impact performance.
The logical and physical aspect of creation of indexes and how they impact performance is a topic that I feel should be included in College curriculum.
Explanation on Histograms is something I was searching for from long.This book is a master piece, but beginners unless you know how to read explain plans and factors that affect explain plan then wait till you get that expertise.
Only con I can think of is at approx 4000 INR its expensive.But when one can spend 40-50K for a mobile phone why not 4K for knowledge which will last you lifetime and help in your career.
