I don't know what title to give this review. Review on Opel Vectra

I have been waiting for a long time for reading a review on the opel vectra.but no none wrote any on ms.finally I decided that I myself would write a review.this review is not based on a test drive.it is based on bits of info collected from various sources.hope you find this review useful.

the opel vectra created a lot of excitement in the indian market when it was launched.but this excitement was short lived.the car has been launched in the higher end of the d segment.i found this car very interesting because it has features which are found in higher cars like merc e class.more on that later.

the vectra is a good looking car.many people don't seem to like its looks.i have no idea why.it is very elegant.the front gets uniquely shaped jewel headlamps.the grille has a chrome strip running through it and the opel logo on it.there are fog lamps in the front bumper.the front is very elegant according to me.from the side it looks sleek and sporty,very much like the mondeo from ford.the 16'' wheels with alloys look very good.the rear..wow..i have never seen tail lamps like that.it is very radical.people may not like it and may even hate it!but I like it.i just can't decribe the tail lamps,sorry!there is a chrome strip running through the rear(just above the bumper).it looks neat and classy.many people may find the vectra too different to their liking.but if you are looking for a very elegant car which is also radical,the vectra is the best choice.-9.5/10(my rating)

the engine is a 2.2 litre petrol 'ecotech' engine that can pump out 147 bhp@5600 rpm.that is 2 bhp more than the european version.it has 20 kgm of torque which is satisfactory.this engine can satisfy euro 4 emission norms!the engine is the most refined of its class and there is no vibration at any speed.noise is minimal and even that is cut out when you sit inside the car.the vectra is by no means a fast and furious machine.it is however a vehicle which is very suitable for relaxed driving.the performance is not all that breathtaking but the refinementof the engine is what is impressive.0-60 kmph comes in less than 5 seconds.0-100 kmph comes in just above 11 seconds.for a car of its weight it is decent.but it is slower than its competitors.top speed is very good.the car manages to touch 200 kmph.handling is not very impressive.the steering is not so responsive.it is quite irritating at times.but ride is excellent.there are no vibrations as I said,less or no noise and the 147 horses are more than sufficient.ride is good but not handling.the performance can be best described as good but not excellent.

the interior is neat and like a typical european car.but there are so many gadgets and switches that it might take years to master the controls.ther leather seats are very comfortable.the transmission is manual.airconditioning is automatic.the interior is cavernous.there is no shortage of space.the dash is neatly lated out but there are so many gadgets.ergonomics are excellent.the driver gets a commanding view of the road ahead.as I told you already,there are many unique features in the vectra.i will just tell a few.there is park assist.if while taking reverse you go too near the car behind then the system gives beeps which become louder as you go nearer to the car(also available on the octavia l&k).the same is in the front.then there are airbags(no big deal).then there is park assist,tcs,abs,ebd,and more.then there are power headlamp washers.if you like gadgets and technology and are ready to spend(or waste!) your valuable time to learn about them then the vectra will suit you perfectly.-9/10 the fuel efficiency on the highway is amazing.can you guess how many kmpl?well you can travel 14+ kmpl with one litre of petrol on the highway.in the city the efficiency drops drastically to 8 kmpl.in mixed conditions it gives 9 kmpl.the fuel efficiency is better than many in its class.this maybe because of the refined engine.-9/10

verdict-the vectra is a different type of car.it is neither a performance car nor is it a very powerful car.it helps you to drive in a relaxed manner.safety is given paramount importance.the build quality is amazing.there are also many unique features in it.if you are going to buy a car at this price in india you are most likely to be driven by a cheuffer(i don't know the spelling!).so you can relax in the back seat in peace.at 18 lakhs it is a bit expensive,but running costs are low.you may not find anything very interesting in this car but everything from the styling to the gadgets are radical.i just cannot give a proper conclusion...so farewell!
