Bought this 2002 car 2nd hand because of its appearance. Done 40, 000 Km but still great pickup, very pleasing looks, comfortable and spacious. I do not need to drive very often but still I was very happy to drive it every weekend with my family for the first one year. Everyone was happy.

Now suddenly I had to be away for work and when I came back after a month, I found the car is unable to start and acid boiling and spilling out of the batteries. The GM dealer checked the car and listed 6 faults and estimated the repair cost at 28, 000. They also told me that "all spares that we will use will be imported, new and genuine" which was probably not very true as the model is long obsolete. So I went to a regular shabby garage owned by an old bearded man, who told me that probably the fuel injectors or the fuel pumps are blocked with dried petrol and the alternator is burnt.

He also told me the following things: "If it was a Maruti, I could have repaired it in 2000 rupees, because Maruti spares are available everywhere. But since it is Opel, and spares come from savaging of disposed cars only, the cost can reach 10, 000 and there is no warranty of any sort."

After 3 days, I got back my Opel Corsa Swing, now everything repaired and in perfect condition using savaged spares, and it set me back by something well above 8000 rupees. The alternator itself cost more than 5000. Also the repairman suggested that I must start my car everyday and drive a few Kilometers at least twice a week, otherwise such things can recur more often.

So, buy this car to please your family, they will really be very happy to travel in such a cute and comfortable car, but at 8-10KMs per litre of Petrol and no spares in the market, pray to God when you drive it. It is really not for the middle class.
