Strange title, you might think. Someone might exclaim, “Hey wait, this is the name of a Bryan Adams’ Album”. Calm down. Just read on. Imagine this. You are a sadist. You hate your neighbour. You would to any extent to drive him out. But you are stuck up with no idea whatsoever. Don’t worry. Just bring home a “Onida KY Thunder”. Oh Yeah!! Just forget your neighbour, he would have long gone crazy. On the other side, imagine that I am that neighbour you hate to the fullest. I would hate this television from the bottom of my heart. For the simple reason that it is disturbing. In reality, that is exactly what has happened to me. To be at the receiving end is so tuff. I have a not so friendly neighbour who has this very unfriendly TV. And after some bitter experiences with him and watching the same TV in my holidays in my Aunt’s place, it gives me an opportunity to enlighten you about this unfriendly product.

The “Onida KY Thunder” from the world of Onida is a television that has high-end sound technology, which disturbs many. It is a far cry from a quality product and a collective look into the features may reveal a lot of truth. First and foremost let us see what the TV has to offer on the sound count. Basically it has a 100Q stereo sound output with a bamboozling PMPO. Now I have a question out here. Why on earth do we need such high sound output? A person who likes to relax doesn’t want to strain himself with huge sound. Okay. In the ultimate case, even a head-banging teenager doesn’t prefer this much of a volume. It tests the capabilities of human hearing moving us to the threshold of pain. I tell you what; the large volume is disturbing if not disgusting. An “Auto Volume Leveler” seems to level up this huge volume according to the individuality of channels. Then an usual 3-band graphic equalizer,. is incorporated for finer sound adjustments. A “Bass Blaster” is what gives you that uncomfortable feeling and tests the limit of your ears. And above all else, a whole set of 6 speakers just boost the sound produced. So much on the sound aspect. Let me just pose one question. Do an average viewer need such a bombarding sound effect like this product provides? Definitely not. Then why pay for something you don’t enjoy or what you don’t necessarily need. Anyway, that is how it goes.

Coming to the picture quality, I have to admit that it is pretty good. The clarity is fine and enjoyable viewing is assured. But my advice is that you better don’t play video games here. Because, I personally didn’t enjoy the poor experience that I had. The colour contrasts aren’t striking and this lets us down while viewing animations. The remote control didn’t impress me either. Forget the design, tuning is a big problem. It so happened that in my Aunt’s place, the channels got swapped. I had to toil hard to get the job done. Moreover, the remote is not sturdy and poor circuitry only ensured service twice. Thank God. My Cousin owns the repair shop. Anyway, it is a big let down. Though the TV has functions like Auto Power off, Sleep timer, Picture mode and the like, they somehow fail to impress. The display is not quite good and the child lock is just for the namesake. I wonder what for “Diginet” is used. But there is no way the in-build Digital Network can make a mark. Coming next is the price. My Goodness!! 20,000 bucks for nothing at all. I wonder, why at all they have priced this product at such a height. Yeah, maybe for all the high-end sound technology they provide. Believe me, it is definitely not worth the money you pay.

Summing this up, I can say that the Onida KY-Thunder is a potent weapon of my neighbour to drive me out crazy. The statement “ Neighbour’s envy, Owner’s pride” should be changed to “Neighbour’s headache, Owner’s weapon”. I wonder how a TV’s high sound output would enhance viewing pleasure. In my opinion this product is not worth a look at and if there are any owners, please forgive me for this view of mine. I would not suggest this product even to my enemy, leave alone buying one.
