So the biggest grosser of 2007 turned out to be Om Shanti Om. The movie was a total waste of time and money.

Story: Nothing much, anyone who has seen Karz can guess the story in the first 10 minutes
flat. SRK ’Om’, an aspiring actor who falls for famous actress ’Shanti’ (Deepika Padukone). He and his friend (Shreyas Talpade) race to win her heart and almost do, until bad guy Arjun Rampal enters the scene. Then it is revealed that Shanti is actually Arjun’s wife, and yet they have never lived as husband and wife. Inspite of that she has somehow gotten herself pregnant, and wont do Arjun’s movie of the same name as the movie. So he promptly throws her into the set for Om Shanti Om and sets the place on fire. Om rushes to save her, gets beaten up by goons, gets burnt by fire and almost hit by a car. Shanti dies in the fire and  Om in the hospital.
Enter the reincarnation and the film instantly follows Karz. Om is a huge movie star who goes to the burnt set and suddenly dees a video flashback of his previous life, remembers everything, reunites with his past life’s friends and family and decides to make Om Shanti Om with Arjun. Then he seeks out Shanti from this life, (she’s called Sandy now) and almost manages to make his plan a success. Arjun tries to foil his plan but Shanti’s ghost shows up and drops a chandelier on him, saving the day, and the audience form more torture.

Cast: SRK is fine, but he gives us nothing new, the same old romantic stuff. Deepika is utter crap, she would be better off in Ekta Kapoor’s serials. Kiron Kher and Shreyas Talpade deliver good performances, and Arjun manages to be good only in the first half.

Music: Vishal Shekhar has done a nice job. Agaar main Kahoon and Aankhon mein teri being the best.

My View: The film is pure masala and no substance. There are a few old jokes thrown in the first, worth a laugh, but the second half is pure torture, it will make you want to run off. The 70’s look has been done well though.

Overall its total crap. Not Recomended.
