Story:

In my birthday someone gifted me this wonderful storybook. To me it was the best storybook I had ever read. This wonderful storybook was written by the great author Charles Dickens. The story dates back to the 19th century. In the story the author wanted to draw our attention to the condition of orphans in England at his time. The story started like this:

Oliver Twist was born in an old workhouse. At the time of his birth his mother was very ill. She wanted to look at her baby for once and then she left him and the world forever. The woman had no wedding ring in her finger. Slowly when Oliver grew up.he was left alone by each and every one to live by himself in this cruel world. Then a fat man called Mr.Bumble took him and sold him to a man called Mr.Sowerberry. Like this slowly Oliver grew up and was made a thief, a slave and what not.! Its not possible for me to tell the summary of such a big story here but I highly recommend you people to read Oliver Twist and I am sure all of you will love it. By reading the story you people will have an idea of how cruel people are.

Some other well know books written by Charles Dickens are: A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities etc.

Sadly, he died in 1870 because of stroke, leaving behind an unfinished story: The Mystery of Edwin Drood.
