DIETHYL TOLUAMIDE(DEET), an active ingredient in the topical applicants ie creams, gels, lotions and sprays etc, that directly come in contact with the skin, has been proven to be dangerous to the skin

if we apply it generously as a cosmetic. here are few precautionary measures printed on the packs of the mosquito repellents....

CAUTION
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not spray directly on exposed food or food utensils.
Avoid contact with spectacle frames, other plastics and synthetic fabrics.

WARNING
May be dangerous, particularly to children, if you use large amounts on the skin, clothes or bedding or on large areas of the body, especially if you keep using it for a long time.

Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling contents can be harmful or fatal.

AEROSOL - STORAGE AND DISPOSAL
Keep in a cool place out of the sun and out of the reach of children.
Avoid exposure of can to temperatures above 50°C, such as may occur in cars, or near heat sources such as heaters, stoves, or open flames.
Do not incinerate or puncture this can, even when empty.
Dispose of can by putting in garbage, or leaving it at an appropriate metal recycling collection point.

LOTION & ROLL-ON - STORAGE AND DISPOSAL
Keep in a cool dry place.
Dispose of empty container in garbage.

the first precaution, it starts reacting with the packing material, plastics etc. as said avoid contacts with spectacle frames, plastics, synthetic fabrics etc.
so every time we apply one such cream, wear only cotton clothes, it’s very vey toxic if consumed hence not applied on kids, who might put hands in mouth.
so you can better predict the fate of our skin.

this might be the reason that this market is only 3-5% of total mosquito repellent market..
apart from that people find it cumbersome to apply some thing on whole body, as if taking a bath just before they start snoring..
if not applied on every part of the body, the vampires would bite through the clothing, also the effect of the creams last only a few centimetres from the application area..

toh bhaiya, old is gold, and the golden saying "prevention is better than cure", use mosquito nets, or prevent mosqito breeding.

research is going across the globe, for better chemicals, that are not dangerous to skin.
but a lot of effort is put in, and it goes invain as the new generation of mosquitoes is born resistant to the chemicals, this is the reason why we find even our most trusted brands ineffective after some good performance, these things have fast adaptation process.

so god save us from mosquitoes..
